Study and Teaching

The Chair of Material Handling offers a wide range of courses for Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes. In the basic area, we explain to students in their first semester, for example, how engineers work or how machine or apparatus elements are designed. In the area of material handling, industrial engineering students learn the basics of the structure and function of discontinuous and continuous conveyors and deal with the engineering design of conveyor technology components and drive units. In the course Material Handling Systems,  the focus is on calculating the throughput of individual conveyors and complex material flow systems. In the Master's courses "Handling and Logistics of Bulk Materials" and "Discrete Elemente Method" students can acquire the specialised knowledge they need to work and conduct research in the field of bulk materials (handling) technology in the future.
